Amanda Neal (known as Amanda Panda) was born on November 30, 2000 to Greg and Heather Neal. Shortly after her birth, she contracted RSV and a blood infection. After forty days in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, she was released. Amanda began having seizures and spent seven more months in and out of the hospital. Amanda went to heaven on August 14, 2001. Amanda’s father, Greg Neal, made a promise at her graveside that her life and death would not be in vain. Greg determined to help other families facing similar difficulties. To keep this promise, Greg started The Amanda Neal Foundation as a non-profit organization to provide much-needed financial support and counseling for families of children with terminal illness.
